2015-08-19		We regret to advise the sad passing of Kathy Anne Noble Monday, 17th August, 2015, at age 81. Kathy was the author of this website, and the published author of "Two Lives: A Transsexual's story and the fight for recognition"; and a successful advocate of change in Australian laws for betterment of the lives of the transgender community. We have enormously enjoyed working with Kathy over several years, bringing you all sorts of relevant updates about the trans gender community, mostly in this column "Kathy's Komments". 2015-05-29		Ireland Backs Same Sex Marriage in Referendum This is great news. Until we have the same here in Australia, we in the Trans* community will continue to be discriminated against, if staying married after surgery. The ACT has not required this since 2009, nor surgery since 2014, to be able to amend a birth certificate, if born there. See the Notices page for more information.

2015-04-15		Transgender kids: 'Everyone was calling me Sebastian, but I knew I was a girl' An interesting paper. The numbers quoted in this are the highest I have ever seen. Camille is one of a growing number of children who experience gender dysphoria-the belief that there is a mismatch between their biological sex and their gender identity. It is estimated that between 2% and 5% of the population experience some form of this, although statistical analysis is patchy. Believe it or not, this has all come about because I thought it was time to write a history of legislation concerning Transfolk. As you will see, there are many questions for both papers that require answers. I am just amazed, that nothing has been done to qualify these positions and questions in the past. It would appear that we have glibly accepted rules, regulations and whole of government policies, without questioning what cover they afford us, or how we can use Commonwealth directions on some very critical issues. 2014-07-07		AMA: Transgender Individuals not Required to Undergo Genital Surgery or Forced Sterilization in Order to Change Legal Identification This appears to be a great step forward by the American Medical Association (AMA). It would be great to see our AMA in Australia making a similar undertaking, and all state and territory governments to follow as well.
